A limestone formation created from the carcasses of marine life (corals and fusulinas) in the sea near the equator over a period of 340 million years, and which has a field with a flock
of sheep. It is one of the three major karsts in Japan. Kitakyushu National Park, part of which is designated as a national natural monument.
